Reaffirming Our Commitment to Net Zero
At Hartnell Taylor Cook, sustainability is more than a business objective. It’s a core part of how we operate, how we advise our clients and how we contribute to the built environment. We are pleased to publish our latest Carbon Reduction Plan, setting out our progress, our current emissions profile and the actions we are taking to reach Net Zero emissions latest by 31 January 2045.
Building on Strong Foundations
Over recent years, we have embedded sustainability into the way we work. From achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification to relocating into more energy-efficient office spaces in Bristol and London, we have taken significant steps to reduce our environmental impact.
Other initiatives already in place include:
- Paperless working and enhanced recycling practices
- Motion-sensitive lighting and energy-saving office measures
- An electric pool car for our Bristol office
- Cycle-to-work support and public transport season ticket loans
- Improved waste separation and food waste composting
- Flexible and hybrid working enabled through investment in digital infrastructure
- Dedicated sustainability expertise and advisory services for our clients
Looking Ahead: Our 2030 Reduction Target
As part of our pathway to Net Zero, we have set a target to reduce emissions by 25% by 2030, with projected emissions of 45.5 tCO₂e by that date.
Achieving this target will require ongoing collaboration across our business, our supply chain and our landlord partners. Key planned initiatives include:
Reducing Energy-Related Emissions
We will:
- Undertake energy audits of our office spaces
- Work with landlords to explore solar photovoltaic (PV) installations
- Encourage the adoption of renewable electricity tariffs
- Optimise heating, cooling and energy management strategies
- Assess the benefits of additional sustainability management standards and frameworks
Tackling Travel and Commuting Emissions
Planned actions include:
- Updating our travel policy to prioritise lower-carbon transport options
- Expanding use of our electric pool vehicle
- Exploring an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
- Promoting car sharing and greater uptake of cycling initiatives
- Supporting continued hybrid working practices where appropriate
Improving Supply Chain and Waste Performance
Further measures will focus on:
- Sourcing more sustainable and local office supplies
- Reducing paper consumption through the implementation of new AI-enabled digital systems
- Providing staff training on waste reduction and sustainable workplace practices
- Enhancing the quality of emissions data gathered from our suppliers and partners
Supporting a More Sustainable Property Sector
As a property consultancy, we recognise the important role our industry must play in tackling climate change. Alongside reducing our own operational emissions, we continue to support clients through specialist sustainability consultancy services, helping them navigate the transition to a lower-carbon future.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan reflects both our progress to date and our commitment to continuous improvement. By combining practical operational changes, data-driven decision making and industry collaboration, we remain focused on delivering meaningful environmental outcomes for our business, our clients and the wider communities we serve..
